This doesn't mean that we don't love our family and friends, but rather that our love for God takes precedence. As Jesus said, "Greater love has no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends" (John 15:13). This kind of love requires sacrifice, but it is the kind of love that truly reflects God's character. In our family, we've learned to prioritize love for God in our daily lives. My wife Susan and I have been married for 19 years, and we've taught our children, Joshua and Rebecca, the importance of loving God above all else. We've seen the fruit of this in their lives, as they've learned to love others in a way that is selfless and sacrificial. As a family, we've been blessed to be able to serve in our community and share the love of God with others. It's not always easy, but prioritizing love for God has given us a sense of purpose and direction that we wouldn't trade for anything.
