The question of where God is when we need Him most. As I reflect on this, I'm reminded that God is not localized, He's not bound by space or time. He's available to us wherever we may be, at any moment. The problem is not that God is absent, but that sin separates us from Him. This distance can be bridged through faith in Jesus' sacrifice on the cross.
As I've learned from my own experiences as a pastor, God seeks us, and He wants to speak to us, guide us, and counsel us. He takes us right where we are, with all our imperfections and feeble steps towards Him. He infuses our souls with spiritual passion, and that passion can be modeled in our daily lives, even in our homes. My wife Susan and I try to live out our faith in front of our children, Joshua and Rebecca, so they can see what it means to love God with every ounce of our being.
In times of crisis, when we feel like God is absent, we can look back on past experiences of His presence in our lives. I've had moments like that, where I felt like I was searching for God, but He was actually seeking worship from me. When we properly offer our money, time, or talents to God, we magnify Him, which is worshipping Him. And when we gather with others in His name, He is with us, as Jesus said in Matthew 18:19-20. So, even when we feel like God is far away, He's actually closer than we think, and He's always seeking to draw us near to Himself.
