What if I lose everything?

Losing everything can be a daunting and overwhelming experience. However, as Christians, we are called to trust in God's sovereignty and provision. Jesus teaches us that if we lose our life for His sake and the gospel, we will save it (Mark 8:35). This means that even in the midst of losing everything, we can find a sense of gain and fulfillment in our relationship with God.

In fact, Jesus warns that gaining the whole world but losing our soul is of no profit (Luke 9:25). This means that material possessions and worldly success are not ultimately satisfying or fulfilling. Our souls, on the other hand, are what truly matter. When we lose everything, we are forced to re-evaluate our priorities and focus on what truly matters - our relationship with God. As the apostle Paul writes, "I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances. I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want" (Philippians 4:11-12).

So, what if you lose everything? First, remember that you are not nothing. You are a child of God, created in His image, and loved beyond measure. Second, trust that God is big enough to accomplish all things, even in the midst of loss. And third, focus on what truly matters - your relationship with God. As Jesus teaches, "Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, but store up for yourselves treasures in heaven. Where your treasure is, there your heart will be also" (Matthew 6:19-21). May we learn to trust in God's provision and sovereignty, even in the midst of loss. May we find joy and fulfillment in our relationship with Him, and may we store up treasures in heaven that will last for eternity.
