The Challenge of Disrupted Plans

When our plans are constantly being disrupted, it can be difficult to trust in God's sovereignty. We may feel like we're losing control and that our lives are being thrown off track. However, the Bible teaches us that God is the one who sovereignly directs our steps (Prov 16:9). This means that even when our plans are disrupted, we can trust that God is working out His plan in our lives. We don't have to know the details of what God has planned, but we can trust that He will direct us where He wills.

The Importance of Humble Dependence

To trust in God's sovereignty, we must be willing to allow ourselves to be interrupted by Him. This requires humility and a willingness to surrender our own plans and desires to God's will. We must recognize that our own understanding is limited and that we don't have all the answers. Instead, we must trust in God's goodness and wisdom, even when we don't understand what He's doing. As the Bible says, "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make straight your paths" (Prov 3:5-6).

The Freedom of Trust

When we trust in God's sovereignty, we experience a freedom from worry and anxiety about the future. We don't have to know what's going to happen next, because we know that God is in control. This freedom allows us to live with hope and encouragement, knowing that God will accomplish all that He intends in His overarching purposes. As the Bible says, "And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose" (Rom 8:28). By trusting in God's sovereignty, we can live with a far more comprehensive trust in God in all circumstances and a far greater freedom from worry about the future.
