Understanding the Concept of Need

When we consider the question of what happens when we're no longer needed, it's essential to understand that our concept of need is often tied to our circumstances and experiences. As the Bible reminds us, "We do not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of the Lord" (Matthew 4:4). Our needs are not just physical or material but also spiritual. Our occupation may change, or someone close to us may pass away, requiring us to adjust our plans and expectations. As Jesus said, "Seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well" (Matthew 6:33). Ultimately, our sense of need is transformed when we come to know Jesus Christ. The Spirit of God creates an awareness of our need for Him, and we begin to see that our true needs are spiritual. As the Bible says, "You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you so that you might go and bear fruit—fruit that will last—and so that whatever you ask the Father in my name the Father will give you" (John 15:16). When we recognize our need for Jesus, we can find fulfillment and purpose in our lives, even in the midst of uncertainty or change. By prioritizing our spiritual needs and relationship with God, we can experience peace, contentment, and joy, regardless of our circumstances.
