Your Question:
Can our words bring new life?
Answer:
As a pastor, I've seen firsthand the power of words to bring new life to people's lives. In the Bible, God's words are often depicted as bringing life and creation into being. For example, in Deuteronomy 32:47, God says, "The Lord brought us out of Egypt with a mighty hand and an outstretched arm, with a terrifying display of power, and with signs and wonders." This shows that God's words have the power to bring life and transformation. As a parent, I've also seen the impact that our words can have on our children. When we speak words of encouragement and affirmation, it can bring new life and confidence to their lives. But when we speak words of criticism and negativity, it can bring ruin and discouragement. This is why it's so important for us to be mindful of the words we speak, especially to our children. As Proverbs 10:14 says, "The mouth of the righteous is a fountain of life, but the mouth of the wicked conceals violence." In our home, we've made a conscious effort to speak life-giving words to each other. My wife Susan and I have been married for 19 years, and we've learned that speaking words of love and encouragement to each other has brought new life and depth to our relationship. Our children, Joshua and Rebecca, have also learned the importance of speaking life-giving words to each other and to others. By choosing to speak words of life, we can bring new hope and joy to those around us, and create a more positive and uplifting atmosphere in our home and community.
