I Lost My Business and My Sense of Self

Losing a business can be a devastating experience, not only financially but also emotionally. When you lose a business, you lose a part of yourself. The sense of identity and purpose that came with being an entrepreneur or business owner is suddenly taken away. This can lead to feelings of shame, guilt, and low self-worth.

But what if losing your business is not just a loss of a business, but a loss of a sense of self? When we are created by God to create, and we don't create in a thoughtful and worshipful manner, we feel less. This is not just about creating a business, but about creating in any area of life. When we make ourselves the center of our attention, we can lose sight of our purpose and identity. This can lead to feelings of emptiness and disconnection.

So, why did you have to lose your business, and your sense of self? The answer lies in the fact that God is trying to get us to the place where He can use us. When we are self-centered and focused on our own ambitions, we can't be used by God. But when we let go of our own ambitions and seek to follow His will, we can find ourselves and discover our true purpose. This is not about losing ourselves, but about finding ourselves in Christ. As Jesus said, "If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will find it." (Matthew 16:24-25) This is a call to surrender our self-determination and follow God's will, not our own. When we do this, we can find ourselves and discover our true purpose in life.
