Your Question:
What's the purpose of life if it's just suffering?
Answer:
As a pastor and a man of faith, I've come to understand that the purpose of life isn't happiness per se, but rather the knowledge of God. This knowledge, in the end, brings true and everlasting human fulfillment. Suffering, though often pointless with respect to producing human happiness, can still provide an occasion for deeper dependency and trust in God. It's a chance for us to rely on Him, even in the midst of pain and hardship. According to Scripture, our major purpose in life is to glorify God and to know Him. This is the reason we were created, and it's the ultimate goal of our existence. When we focus on this purpose, we begin to see that our struggles and sufferings are not in vain. They can actually be used by God to shape us and draw us closer to Himself. This perspective can bring a sense of meaning and purpose to our lives, even in the midst of adversity. In a world without God, there is no ultimate purpose or meaning to life. Good and evil lose their significance, and we're left with nothing but the bare fact of existence. But with God, we have a reason for living, a reason that transcends our individual experiences of happiness or suffering. Our purpose is to know Him, to love Him, and to glorify Him, and this purpose is not limited to this life, but has eternal implications.
