In 1 Timothy 6:10, the Apostle Paul writes, "For the love of money is a root of all sorts of evil, and some by longing for it have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs." This verse suggests that an excessive love of money can lead people away from their faith and cause them significant emotional pain. Jesus also taught that it is harder for a rich person to enter the kingdom of heaven than for a camel to go through the eye of a needle (Mark 10:25).
