Can I still have a sense of hope when I'm facing chronic illness?

We are people who hope, and hope is not just a feeling, but a choice. When facing chronic illness, it's easy to feel hopeless, but that's when we need to remember that hope is not based on our circumstances, but on God's sovereignty and power. As the Bible says, "And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose" (Romans 8:28). This means that even in the midst of suffering, God is working something good.

In fact, chronic illness can reveal the kind of people we are, and it can be an opportunity to sacrificially care for others and celebrate a love for life, both for ourselves and others. As one person with a chronic illness said, "Health is the best thing in the world except sickness." They found that even in their weakness, they were able to experience God's presence and provision. This is not to say that hope is easy to find, but it is a choice that we can make, even in the midst of suffering. We can choose to focus on God's promises and His character, rather than our circumstances.

It's also worth noting that hope is not just a feeling, but a decision. We can choose to hope, even when it feels like the worst thing that could happen. As the Bible says, "The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit" (Psalm 34:18). This means that even in the midst of depression and hopelessness, God is near and is working to save us. We can choose to trust in His goodness and sovereignty, even when our circumstances seem to contradict it. By doing so, we can find a sense of hope and peace, even in the midst of chronic illness.
