Your Question:
why does god seem so distant from me?
Answer:
I can relate to the feeling of God seeming distant. As a pastor, I've had my share of struggles with feeling disconnected from God. I remember when I was a boy, I used to pray and try to feel close to God, but it seemed like he was far away. I couldn't understand why. Now, I know that the reason is sin. It's not that God is distant, but rather that our sin separates us from him. It's a moral distance, not a physical one. The Bible says that God is near us, but we can't get to him by mere geographical locomotion. We need a change of state, a change that involves death and the sacrifice of Jesus Christ. Through faith in Jesus, we can be brought near to God. It's not that God is far away, but rather that we are far from him because of our sin. And yet, through Jesus, we can be reconciled to God and come to him, making our home with him. I've come to understand that God's presence is not just a physical one, but a spiritual one. He is not limited by space or time. He is always existent and can be perceived and experienced at any time. But our perception of him can be affected by our circumstances, our attention, and our relationship with him. As I read the Bible and learn more about God's character, I'm reminded that he is always near, always loving, and always willing to communicate with us.
