What Does the Bible Say About Anxiety?

The Bible has much to say about anxiety, with over four hundred verses addressing the topic of fear or anxiety. Anxiety is essentially a state of mind characterized by being overconcerned about something, which can manifest in frenzied activity. However, Jesus' focus is primarily on the mental attitude rather than the physical actions that may accompany it. In the Bible, anxiety is often seen as a result of a lack of trust in God. When we are afraid or anxious, we are essentially saying that we do not trust God to take care of us.

The Bible offers several solutions to anxiety, including cultivating trust in God and seeking guidance from parental figures, such as God the Father. In Psalm 56:3, the psalmist says, "When I am afraid, I will trust in you." This verse highlights the importance of trusting in God's goodness and sovereignty, even in the midst of fear or anxiety.
