What if I can't afford to live?

Living for things that are beyond our needs is superfluous and useless. The Bible teaches that "what you have is from God" (1 Corinthians 4:7). We must learn to live within our means and not be controlled by our desires. When we say "I can't afford it," what we often mean is "I don't want to give up my luxuries." We need to reevaluate our priorities and ask ourselves what is truly essential. As the Bible says, "We build houses to live in, not for ambitious display" (Matthew 6:19). We should not be enslaved by our desires, but rather, we should be free to live a life that is pleasing to God.

The Bible teaches us to be content with what we have and not to be controlled by the love of money. In Philippians 4:11-12, it says, "I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances. I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want." We should not be controlled by our desires for wealth and material possessions, but rather, we should be content with what we have and trust in God's provision. As the Bible says, "Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you" (Deuteronomy 31:6).
