The Allure of Isolation

In today's society, it's easy to get caught up in the idea that being alone is the ultimate freedom. We're often taught to prioritize choice over commitment, and to resist being tied down because we fear missing out. But the truth is, loneliness is lethal. When we withdraw from people who care for us, we're not just isolating ourselves from others, we're also isolating ourselves from God. The Bible warns us not to give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but rather to encourage one another and build each other up (Hebrews 10:24-25).

The Danger of Loneliness

Being alone can be a slippery slope, and it's a danger that's especially prevalent in our digital age. The internet can be a quick fix for loneliness, but it's not a substitute for human connection. When we follow Jesus, we're not left alone. We're strengthened and changed, and we're given the opportunity to be part of a community that's united in our love for Him. This community is not just a social club, but a family that's bound together by our shared faith. When we're part of this community, we're not just isolated individuals, but we're connected to others who care for us and who will support us through the ups and downs of life. As Jesus said, "I am with you always, to the very end of the age" (Matthew 28:20). Let's not be fooled by the allure of isolation, but instead, let's seek out the community and support that comes with following Jesus.
