The point of having faith if God doesn't protect me?

Faith is not a guarantee that God will protect us from all harm or danger. In fact, the Bible teaches that believers will face trials and tribulations (John 16:33, 1 Peter 4:12-13). However, faith is not about avoiding problems, but about trusting God in the midst of them. When we face difficulties, our faith is tested, and it is in these moments that we have the opportunity to learn to trust God more deeply. As 1 Peter 1:7 says, "These have come so that your faith—of greater worth than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire—may be proved genuine and may result in praise, glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed."

Faith is not about being protected from harm, but about being protected by God's presence and power in our lives. When we put our trust in God, we are not guaranteed a life free from problems, but we are promised that God will be with us always (Matthew 28:20). In times of trial, we can find comfort in the fact that God is working all things together for our good (Romans 8:28). Our faith is not a means of avoiding difficulties, but a means of facing them with confidence in God's sovereignty and goodness.

Ultimately, the point of having faith is not to avoid problems, but to learn to trust God in the midst of them. As James 1:2-4 says, "Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything." Faith is not about being protected from harm, but about being transformed by God's presence and power in our lives. When we trust God, we are not just avoiding problems, but we are learning to see them as opportunities to grow in our faith and to deepen our relationship with God.
