A New Perspective on Life

Losing one's retirement can be a significant setback, but it doesn't have to mean the end of life as we know it. In fact, it can be a catalyst for a new perspective on life. As the Bible teaches, our old life is to be so closely identified with the Lord that there is literally nothing of our old life remaining (2 Corinthians 5:17). This means that we must come to the point of believing God to be all-powerful and that He can bring about transformation in our lives. We find faith by not only believing what God says but also by experiencing the power of God in our lives.

A Life that Counts

When we tie our sense of security and happiness to material possessions, we are setting ourselves up for disappointment. The things we accumulate and own do not and cannot provide us with true security. As the Bible says, "You can't take it with you" (Matthew 6:19-21). Our focus should be on building a life that counts, a life that is lived for God and His purposes. This means determining what is truly important in life and living accordingly. It means recognizing that our time on earth is short and that we should make the most of it.

A Life that Continues Beyond

The Bible teaches that life does not end at the grave. In fact, it is just the beginning of a new life, a life that continues beyond this one. As the Bible says, "To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord" (2 Corinthians 5:8). This means that our behavior and actions in this life have consequences in the life to come. It means that we should live our lives in a way that honors God and reflects His character. By doing so, we can have confidence that our lives will have meaning and purpose, even if we lose our retirement. In fact, it can be a time of new beginnings, a time to re-evaluate our priorities and live a life that truly counts.
