Understanding Suffering: A Biblical Perspective

Losing a job can be a challenging experience, and it's natural to wonder if God is punishing us. However, the book of Job offers a different perspective on suffering. According to the text, Job's experience was not punishment, but rather a test of his faith. God thrusts Job into an experience of dereliction to make it possible for him to enter into a life of naked faith, to learn to love God for himself alone.
