As a father, I've learned that it's essential to be open and honest with my children, especially as they grow older. When explaining difficult topics to them, I try to use simple and clear language that they can understand. For instance, when Joshua was younger, he asked me why people die, and I explained it in a way that made sense to him. I told him that even though God is all-powerful, He allows people to die because it's part of His plan for their lives. I also reminded him that death is a natural part of life, and that we can still celebrate the memories of loved ones who have passed on.

When explaining complex issues to my children, I also try to involve them in the process of finding solutions. For example, if Rebecca and Joshua have a disagreement, I encourage them to talk it out and find a way to resolve the issue on their own. I remind them that God wants us to work things out with each other, just like He says in Matthew 18:15. By doing this, they learn valuable skills like communication, empathy, and conflict resolution, which will serve them well as they grow older.

As a pastor, I also try to model the behavior I want my children to exhibit. I make sure to listen to their point of view, even when I disagree with them, and I strive to be patient and understanding. I remind them that God wants us to be kind and loving towards each other, even when we have disagreements. By doing this, I hope to instill in them a strong sense of values and character that will guide them throughout their lives.
