Starting Over at 65: A New Chapter in Life

As we approach our 60s, it's natural to feel a sense of uncertainty about the future. Perhaps we've experienced health issues, financial setbacks, or relationship changes that have left us feeling stuck or uncertain about our direction. But starting over at 65 doesn't have to be daunting. In fact, it can be a liberating experience, full of new possibilities and opportunities for growth.

One key principle for starting over at 65 is to "gear down" and focus on what truly matters. This means letting go of things that no longer serve us, whether it's a toxic relationship, a draining job, or a lifestyle that's no longer sustainable. As Jesus teaches, "If you want to be great, you must become a servant" (Mark 10:43-44). In other words, we must be willing to surrender our own desires and ambitions in order to follow God's plan for our lives. This may require a radical shift in our priorities, but it can also lead to a deeper sense of purpose and fulfillment.

So, how do we start over at 65? First, we must come to a place of surrender and trust in God's sovereignty. We must believe that He is almighty and can work all things together for our good (Romans 8:28). Then, we can begin to identify areas of our lives that need to change and take small steps towards making those changes. This may involve seeking out new relationships, pursuing new hobbies or interests, or simply taking time to rest and reflect on our values and goals. By starting over at 65, we can experience a fresh sense of purpose and direction, and live out the rest of our lives with intentionality and joy. As the Bible says, "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me" (Philippians 4:13). With God's power and guidance, we can overcome any obstacle and start anew.
