Can I still be happy with a disability?

The Transforming Power of the Gospel

The Bible teaches us that our happiness is not solely determined by our physical or mental abilities. In fact, the Bible shows us that people with disabilities can experience great joy and fulfillment in their lives. The Bible tells us that "handicap does not need to mean a life not worth living" (emphasis added). This is evident in the lives of people with disabilities who have found happiness and contentment despite their challenges. For example, one survey indicates that 99 percent of adults with Down syndrome report that they are happy with their lives (emphasis added). This is a powerful reminder that our happiness is not dependent on our physical or mental abilities, but rather on our relationship with God and our faith in Him.

The Blessings and Benefits of Disability

The Bible also teaches us that disability can be a blessing and a benefit, not just for the person with the disability, but also for the caregivers and others around them.
