Biblical Answer

The concept of self is a complex and multifaceted one, and it is natural to wonder if one will ever find a new sense of self. From a Christian perspective, the self is not ultimately defined by our external characteristics, but rather by our relationship with God. The Bible teaches that our true self is found in our identity as children of God, and that we are called to live out of this identity at all costs. As the Apostle Paul writes, "I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me" (Galatians 2:20).

This new sense of self is not something that we can achieve on our own, but rather it is a gift that is given to us through our relationship with Jesus Christ. When we surrender ourselves to Him, we are given a new perspective on who we are and what we are capable of. As the Bible says, "For those who are led by the Spirit of God are the children of God. The Spirit you received does not make you slaves, so that you live in fear again; rather, the Spirit you received brought about your adoption to sonship. For through Christ Jesus we have received the Spirit who is the guarantee of our inheritance" (Romans 8:14-16). This new sense of self is not a static state, but rather it is a dynamic process of growth and transformation that is ongoing throughout our lives.

As we live out of our new identity in Christ, we will find that we are becoming more like Him, and that our true self is being revealed. This process of transformation is not always easy, and it requires us to surrender our old selves and our old ways of thinking. But as we do, we will find that we are becoming more authentic, more compassionate, and more loving. We will find that we are becoming the person that God created us to be, and that we are living out of our true identity as children of God. This is the new sense of self that we are called to, and it is a sense of self that is rooted in our relationship with Jesus Christ. As the Bible says, "And we all, who with unveiled faces contemplate the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his image with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit" (2 Corinthians 3:18).
