Is it possible to be a good friend without being a perfect friend?

The Bible teaches us that friendship is a beautiful and essential part of the human experience. In Proverbs 27:17, it is written that "as iron sharpens iron, so friend sharpens friend." This means that friends become wiser together through a healthy clash of viewpoints. However, the Bible also teaches us that perfect friends do not exist.
