Your Question:
How do I keep going when everything feels like it's falling apart?
Answer:
As a pastor and a husband, I've seen my fair share of challenges in life. When everything feels like it's falling apart, it's easy to feel overwhelmed and unsure of how to keep going. But I've learned that it's in those moments that we need to dig deep and find the strength to persevere. The first step is to identify any sin in our lives that may be contributing to the problem. We need to confess it and seek forgiveness, just as I do when I'm leading my congregation in prayer. But even with confession and forgiveness, there may be times when we face a crisis that seems insurmountable. That's when we need to choose to believe in God's unlimited patience and love for us. We need to trust that He is working everything out for our good, even when we can't see it. As the Bible says, "And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose" (Romans 8:28). We need to choose to believe in this promise, even when it's hard. In times of crisis, it's easy to get caught up in negative thoughts and feelings. But we need to choose to stop those thoughts and replace them with the truth of God's Word. We need to ask ourselves, "What am I getting out of my depression?" and "What thoughts need to change?" We need to write up a depression flow-chart and start taking small steps of faith and obedience. And most importantly, we need to choose to believe in God's goodness and love for us, even when everything feels like it's falling apart.
