Dealing with the shame of not being able to pay bills is a heavy burden to carry. It's a weight that can lead to feelings of guilt, anxiety, and depression. However, the Bible teaches us that we are not alone in our struggles. In Psalm 38, David writes, "I am worn down by all my troubles. I am at the end of my rope. My guilt has overwhelmed me like a heavy burden" (Psalm 38:4). David's words show us that even those who are close to God can struggle with feelings of guilt and shame.

The Bible also teaches us that God is a God of forgiveness and restoration. In Matthew 6:14-15, Jesus says, "For if you forgive men when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive men their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins." This means that when we forgive others, God forgives us. And when we forgive ourselves, we can begin to experience freedom from shame and guilt. In Luke 12:47-48, Jesus says, "The servant who knows the master's will and does not get ready or does not do what the master wants will be beaten with many blows. But the one who does not know and does wrong will be beaten with few blows." This shows us that God is more concerned with our heart and our willingness to forgive than with our ability to pay our bills.

So, how do we deal with the shame of not being able to pay bills? First, we must acknowledge our debt and take responsibility for it. We must be honest with ourselves and with God about our financial situation. Second, we must seek forgiveness from God and from others. This means canceling the debt and letting go of our shame and guilt. Finally, we must focus on living a life that reflects God's values and teachings. This means being faithful with what we have, being generous with what we have, and trusting God to provide for our needs. By doing so, we can experience freedom from shame and guilt and live a life that honors God. As the Bible says, "My God will supply all your needs according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus" (Philippians 4:19).
