Can Money Become an Idol?

Money can indeed become an idol, and it has been a source of idolatry throughout history. In the Old Testament, the Israelites were warned against making money their central value, and in the New Testament, Jesus taught that it is impossible to serve both God and money (Matthew 6:24). The Bible warns that greed and covetousness are forms of idolatry, and that those who pursue wealth above all else will ultimately lose their souls (Mark 8:36-37).
