Reconciling Safety with the Call to Take Risks for God

The desire for safety is a natural human impulse. We often seek to protect ourselves from harm and danger. However, as followers of God, we are called to take risks and trust in His sovereignty. The Bible teaches us that God is the only one in whom we should place our trust (Psalm 118:8-9). We are not to rely on our own strength or the protection of human alliances, but rather on the almighty God who is our refuge and strength (Psalm 46:1-3).

In order to reconcile our desire for safety with the call to take risks for God, we must understand that true safety comes from having God on our side. When we trust in Him, we can have an inward sense of peace and security, knowing that He has chosen us for salvation and that nothing can thwart His purpose (Romans 8:28-30). This is not a guarantee of physical safety, but rather a deep sense of trust and confidence in God's sovereignty. We must learn to rely on the instrument panel of Scripture, trusting in God's wisdom and guidance even in the darkest and most uncertain times (Psalm 119:105).

The call to take risks for God is not a call to be reckless or foolish, but rather to trust in His sovereignty and guidance. We are not to ignore the dangers and uncertainties of life, but rather to face them with faith and confidence in God's goodness and power. As we walk by faith and not by sight, we must learn to trust in God's promises and providence, even when we do not understand the circumstances (2 Corinthians 5:7). By doing so, we can experience the peace and security that comes from knowing that God is our refuge and strength, and that He is working all things together for our good (Romans 8:28). We are to be comfortable with doing so because we know that God is in control and will never leave us nor forsake us (Hebrews 13:5-6). We are to seek to live a life that reflects Christian values and teachings, trusting in God's sovereignty and guidance at all times.
