The Tension Between Desire for Safety and Risk for God

The desire for safety and the call to take risks for God often seem to be at odds with each other. On one hand, we want to be safe from harm and protected from danger. On the other hand, God's call to us is often to step out in faith and take risks, even when it feels uncertain or scary. This tension can be particularly challenging when we're faced with difficult decisions or uncertain circumstances.

The Importance of Trusting God's Sovereignty

In order to reconcile our desire for safety with the call to take risks for God, we need to trust in God's sovereignty. We need to remember that God is in control of all things, and that He is working all things together for our good (Romans 8:28). This means that even when we take risks and face challenges, we can trust that God is with us and will work everything out for our benefit. We can also trust that God will give us the wisdom and guidance we need to make wise decisions, even when the outcome is uncertain.

Living by Faith, Not by Sight

Ultimately, living for God requires us to live by faith, not by sight (2 Corinthians 5:7). This means that we need to trust in God's promises and His character, even when we can't see what's ahead. We need to be willing to take risks and step out in faith, knowing that God is with us and will guide us every step of the way. This doesn't mean that we should be reckless or irresponsible, but rather that we should be willing to trust in God's sovereignty and goodness, even when the path ahead is uncertain. By doing so, we can live a life that is truly pleasing to God, and experience the peace and security that comes from knowing that we are in His hands.
