Understanding the Feeling of Aloneness in Crisis

Feeling alone in a crisis is a common experience that can be overwhelming and debilitating. It's as if the world has shrunk, and the individual feels isolated and disconnected from others. This feeling can be especially intense when we feel like we've made mistakes or done wrong, and the weight of our guilt and shame can be crushing. The world may seem like a dark and unforgiving place, and we may feel like we're the only ones who are struggling.

The Illusion of Isolation

However, the truth is that we are never truly alone. The world is indeed wider than we fear it is, and it contains a vast array of people who care for us and want to help. We may feel like we're the only ones who are struggling, but in reality, many people have gone through similar experiences and have come out the other side. We can seek out wise counsel from trusted friends, family members, or mental health professionals who can offer guidance and support. We can also reach out to support groups, such as Al Anon, where we can connect with others who are going through similar struggles.

Finding Strength in Jesus

In the midst of crisis, it's easy to feel like we're on our own and that no one can understand what we're going through. But the Bible tells us that we are never alone when we look to Jesus. He is our rock, our refuge, and our strength. When we feel like we're drowning in our fears and anxieties, He is the lifeline that can pull us to safety. When we feel like we're the only ones who are struggling, He is the one who reminds us that we are not alone, that we are part of a larger community of believers who are going through similar struggles. By seeking Him and His guidance, we can find the strength and courage we need to face our fears and overcome our struggles. As the psalmist writes, "You will not leave me or forsake me" (Psalm 23:4). We are never alone when we look to Jesus.
