The Example of Non-Christian Goodness

The Importance of a Relationship with God

In other words, our ability to love and show kindness to others is not just a matter of personal choice, but rather a reflection of God's love for us. When we have a relationship with God, we are able to live according to His standards and reflect His character in our lives. Without a relationship with God, it can be difficult to know what is truly good and right, and to live a life that reflects God's standards. The Bible says, "Without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him" (Hebrews 11:6). In other words, a relationship with God is essential for living a truly good life.
