The Experience of God's Love

To experience God's love, we must first understand that it is a fundamental aspect of His character. Scripture emphasizes that God is a God of love, and His love is the driving force behind all His actions. As we see God's love in action, we begin to truly know Him. We experience glimpses of His love through various relationships, including our relationships with family, friends, and fellow believers. These experiences help us to understand the meaning of love when applied to God, even if it is not identical with our human experience of love.

Experiencing Love through Relationship

We can experience God's love by examining our relationships with others. As we reflect on the love we show to our family, friends, and neighbors, we are reminded of God's love for us. We are encouraged to ask ourselves, "If I were sure that I loved God, what would I do?" When we have found the answer, we are called to go and do it. This process of self-examination and obedience helps us to grow in our understanding and experience of God's love. Furthermore, our meetings with other believers should stir us to love, and we are called to model God's love to our children.

God's love is not just a feeling, but a powerful force that transforms us. When we experience God's love, we are filled to the measure of all the fullness of God (Ephesians 3:17-19). This love enables us to love others as God loves us, and it motivates us to serve Him with all our heart, soul, and mind. We are reminded that God's love attends every moment of our lives, even in the toughest and most painful times. As we experience God's love, we are called to share it with others, and to model it to our children, so that they may come to know the Savior and experience His love firsthand.
