Your Question:

What do I do when my whole world is being destroyed?

Answer:

The Destruction of Our World

We find ourselves in a world that is being destroyed, and it is a scary thought. The Bible warns us that there will be a time of great destruction, when God will lay waste the entire earth (Deuteronomy 13:16). This destruction will be so severe that it will be like nothing we have ever seen before (Matthew 24:21-22). The earth and its works will be burned up, and all these things will be destroyed in this way (2 Peter 3:10).

A Call to Holy Conduct and Godliness

In the midst of this destruction, we are called to live holy lives of conduct and godliness. We are to look for and hasten the coming of the day of God, when He will judge the world in righteousness (2 Peter 3:12). We are to live in such a way that we are not conformed to the world, but are transformed by the renewing of our minds (Romans 12:2). We are to be people who are marked by our love for God and our love for others, and who are not bound by the evil forces of this world. We are to use our authority in the name of Jesus to stop evil and permit good, and to submit to God in prayer and live a life of obedience to Him.

A Hope for the Future

But even in the midst of destruction, we have a hope for the future. We know that Jesus is present with us, and that His presence is always near (Hebrews 13:5; Matthew 28:20). We know that He will destroy the evil forces that are destroying our world, and that He will bring about a new heavens and a new earth, where He will reign supreme (Revelation 21:1-4). We know that we will be abolished and completely destroyed only at Jesus future coming, when death and demons will be vanquished, and Jesus will hand the kingdom over to God (1 Corinthians 15:24-28). So let us not be afraid of the destruction that is coming, but let us be filled with hope and confidence in the Lord Jesus Christ. Let us live our lives in such a way that we are ready for the day of the Lord, and that we will be counted worthy to escape the coming destruction (1 Thessalonians 1:10).
