What happens when my children grow up and I'm not there to see it?

The Sovereignty of God in Your Children's Lives

As a Christian parent, it's natural to worry about what will happen to your children when you're no longer there to guide them. However, the Bible teaches us that God is sovereign over all of creation, including the lives of our children. This means that even when we're not physically present, God's plan and purpose for their lives will continue to unfold. In Psalm 139:16, it says, "Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book and planned before a single one of them began." This verse reminds us that God had a plan for our children's lives before they were even born, and that plan will continue to be fulfilled even after we're gone.

The Importance of Teaching God's Word

As parents, one of the most important things we can do is to teach our children God's Word and help them develop a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. When we do this, we're not just giving them a set of moral guidelines to follow, but we're also giving them the tools they need to navigate life's challenges and make wise decisions. In 2 Timothy 3:16-17, it says, "All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work." By teaching our children God's Word, we're equipping them to live a life that honors God and brings glory to His name, even when we're no longer there to guide them.

Trusting in God's Goodness and Sovereignty

Ultimately, as parents, we must learn to trust in God's goodness and sovereignty over our children's lives. This means letting go of our fears and worries, and instead, trusting that God has a plan to prosper them, not to harm them (Jeremiah 29:11). When we do this, we can have confidence that our children will be okay, even when we're not there to see it. We can trust that God will continue to guide and direct them, and that they will be able to navigate life's challenges with wisdom and faith.
