What happens when my children grow up and I'm not there to see it?

This question is a profound one, and it's natural to feel a sense of uncertainty and concern about what the future holds for our children. As a parent, we want to know that they will be okay, that they will make good choices, and that they will follow in the ways of the Lord. However, the Bible reminds us that our children's lives are not entirely in our hands. In Psalm 127:3-5, we read, "Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord, the fruit of the womb a reward. Like arrows in the hand of a warrior are the children of one's youth. Blessed is the man who fills his quiver with them! He shall not be put to shame when he speaks with his enemies in the gate." This passage teaches us that our children are a gift from God, and that He is the One who ultimately guides and directs their lives.

As we pray for our children, we should pray not only for their salvation and spiritual growth, but also for their character development and emotional well-being. We should pray that they will learn to trust and obey God, and that they will develop a strong sense of identity and purpose in life. We should also pray that they will be surrounded by positive influences and relationships that will help them grow in their faith and become the people God has called them to be. As Proverbs 22:6 says, "Train up a child in the way he should go, even when he is old he will not depart from it." This verse reminds us that our role as parents is to train and equip our children for life, and to help them develop a strong foundation in their faith.

Ultimately, the outcome of our children's lives is not entirely up to us. As parents, we can do our best to raise them in the ways of the Lord, but we must also trust in God's sovereignty and goodness. We must remember that our children are not ours to possess or control, but rather they are gifts from God, and we are called to be faithful stewards of their lives. As the psalmist says, "The Lord will fulfill his purpose for me; your steadfast love, O God, endures forever. Do not forsake the work of your hands" (Psalm 138:8).
