Your Question:

Is God really silent?

Answer:

As a pastor and a follower of God, I've come to understand that God's silence is not a sign of His absence or indifference. In fact, His silence can be a sign of His trust in us, that we can withstand an even bigger revelation of Himself. When we're in a place of silence, it's not a silence of despair, but one of pleasure, because He sees that we can handle more of His presence.

I've learned that God's silence is not a lack of answer, but rather a sign that He's bringing us into the mainstream of His purposes. His silences are actually His answers, and they can be a sign that He's giving us the very blessings we ask for, but in a way that's even more wonderful than we could have imagined. As the Psalmist says, "It is good to wait quietly for the salvation of the Lord" (Lam. 3:26). In silence, we can enter into the mystery of the world to come and into God Himself.

As a Christian, I believe that God hears every prayer we pray, even if we don't always feel like He's responding. His silence is not a sign of deafness, but rather a sign of His sovereignty. He may not always answer our prayers in the way we want, but He always answers them in the way that's best for us. And in the silence, we can find the peace and presence of God, which is the greatest blessing of all.
