Spiritual guidance powered by AI and grounded in Scripture
Your Question:
what's the best way to deal with my anxiety and worry?
Answer:
As a pastor, I've seen many people struggle with anxiety and worry. I believe that the first step in dealing with anxiety is to confess it as unbelief. Often, our fears are rooted in our hearts saying, "Lord, I don't believe you" or "Lord, my desires want something other than what you promised." We need to acknowledge these fears and bring them to God in prayer. When I'm struggling with anxiety, I try to follow the example of Psalm 57:4-5, which says, "I will cry out to God Most High, to God who fulfills his purpose for me. He will send from heaven and save me." I find that praying the psalms, meditating on Scripture, and talking to God about my life can help me shift my focus from fear to faith. I also try to let go and simply sit in God's presence, breathing and looking to Him for guidance. It's not always easy, and some days my mind is like a "banana tree filled with monkeys," as Henri Nouwen puts it. But I've learned that it's in those moments that I need to be most intentional about seeking God's presence and peace. I remind myself that God is faithful and that He is working everything out for my good, even when I don't understand what's happening. By confessing my fears, seeking Scripture, and trusting in God's love and faithfulness, I've found that I can begin to let go of anxiety and trust in His sovereignty.
