The question of whether a non-Christian can be a good spouse is a complex one. While it is possible for a non-Christian to exhibit good qualities in a relationship, such as kindness, empathy, and commitment, these characteristics are ultimately rooted in human nature rather than in a relationship with Christ. As the Bible teaches, "all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God" (Romans 3:23). Without a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, a person's understanding of love, commitment, and relationships is shaped by their own sinful nature, rather than by the principles of God's love and redemption.

In a marriage between a Christian and a non-Christian, the Christian spouse has a unique opportunity to model and teach their partner about God's love and character. However, this can also create tension and conflict, as the non-Christian spouse may not share the same values and beliefs. Ultimately, the success of the marriage will depend on the commitment and effort of both spouses to grow in their relationship with Christ and to work together to build a strong, God-honoring marriage.

While it is possible for a non-Christian to be a good spouse, it is not the same as being a good Christian spouse. A Christian spouse is one who has a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and seeks to live out their faith in their daily life, including their marriage. This involves seeking to become more like Christ, denying oneself, and serving one's spouse. A non-Christian spouse, on the other hand, may exhibit good qualities, but these are ultimately rooted in human nature rather than in a relationship with Christ. As the Bible teaches, "without faith it is impossible to please God" (Hebrews 11:6). Therefore, while a non-Christian spouse may be a good person, they are not a good Christian spouse in the same way that a Christian spouse is.
