A Relationship with God: Is it Secure?

As Christians, we often wonder if our relationship with God is secure. We may feel like we're constantly trying to appease Him, like we're on shaky ground, and that one wrong move could ruin everything. But is this really how God wants us to think about our relationship with Him? The Bible says that our relationship with God is not dependent on our actions, but rather on the work of Christ in communication and love (Ps. 139:17). This means that our sufficiency of relationship is not in what we do, but in the infinite-personal God Himself.

A personal relationship with God is not like any other relationship we have with people. It's not something we can earn or maintain through our good deeds, but rather it's a response to what God has already done for us. God's grace and love are not dependent on our actions, but rather they are the foundation of our relationship with Him. This means that our relationship with God is not something we can destroy, but rather it's something that is secure and permanent. As Paul wrote, "If we are children, then we are heirs, heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ" (Romans 8:17). This means that we are part of God's family, and that our relationship with Him is not something that can be taken away from us.

So, can we still have a relationship with God? Absolutely! Our relationship with God is not something we have to earn or maintain through our actions, but rather it's a gift that we receive through faith in Jesus Christ. It's a relationship that is secure and permanent, and one that is based on God's love and grace, not on our actions. This means that we can approach God with confidence, knowing that our relationship with Him is not something we can ruin, but rather something that is a reflection of His love and mercy towards us. As the Bible says, "God is love and love cannot exist outside of relationship" (1 John 4:8).
