The Gift of a Good Marriage

When your family is facing financial struggles, it can be tempting to focus on the material aspects of Christmas. However, the most valuable gift you can give your children is a good marriage. As the Bible says, "Children learn good habits from their parents" (Proverbs 22:6). By modeling a loving and committed relationship, you demonstrate to your children the importance of relationships and the value of hard work.

A Word from Jesus

If you're struggling to make ends meet this Christmas, consider sending your children a card with a message from Jesus. Use Bible verses that speak to the value of relationships, hard work, and the importance of family. For example, you could write a note with Psalm 127:3-5, which says, "Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord, the fruit of the womb a reward. Like arrows in the hand of a warrior are the children of one's youth. Blessed is the man who fills his quiver with them! He shall not be put to shame when he speaks with his enemies in the gate." This message will remind your children that they are a gift from God and that they are loved and valued.

Teaching the Value of Giving

Another way to approach Christmas when you can't afford gifts is to teach your children the value of giving. Have them choose some clothes and toys to donate to charity. Explain to them that giving to others is a way to show love and kindness, just like Jesus did when He gave His life for us. This will help them develop a sense of generosity and compassion that will benefit them throughout their lives. As the Bible says, "Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you" (Luke 6:38). By teaching your children the value of giving, you'll be giving them a gift that will last a lifetime.
