Your Question:

Can I still have a sense of purpose if I'm unable to work?

Answer:

As a pastor, I've seen many people struggle with finding purpose in their lives, especially when they're unable to work. But I believe that purpose is not tied to our ability to work. In fact, the Bible says that our purpose is to be an ambassador for Christ, a royal emissary sent to share the Good News with others. Whether we're working or not, our purpose remains the same: to depend on God and His power, and to live out our faith in all aspects of our lives.

When I'm unable to work, I still have a sense of purpose because I know that my purpose is not defined by my job. My purpose is to serve God and others, and to bring glory to Him. As the hymn writer said, "We plow the fields, and scatter the good seed on the land, but it is fed and watered by God's almighty hand." Even in times of unemployment or disability, we can still be productive and fulfilling by serving others, volunteering, or simply being a good neighbor.

Ultimately, our purpose is not about what we do, but about who we are in Christ. As the Bible says, "You are of Christ, and Christ is of God." Our identity is rooted in our relationship with God, and that gives us a sense of purpose that transcends our ability to work. By focusing on our relationship with God and living out our faith in all areas of our lives, we can find purpose and meaning even when we're unable to work.
