Why did God take away my health?

There is no straightforward answer to this question, as the Bible teaches that God is sovereign and His ways are not always our ways (Isaiah 55:8-9). We can't always understand why God allows us to experience physical illness or suffering. Sometimes, it's because of our faulty theology of suffering, which assumes that God wants to heal us simply because we are His children and He loves us. However, this perspective neglects the reality that God's sovereignty is not limited by our desires or circumstances.

In some cases, God may allow us to experience physical illness as a means of testing our faith, trust, and dependence on Him. Just as God tested Job's faith in the midst of suffering (Job 1-2), He may be doing the same with us. Our response to suffering can reveal our character and our relationship with God. As the Bible says, "And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose" (Romans 8:28). This verse doesn't mean that God causes all things to work together for good, but rather that He can use all things, including suffering, to bring about good in our lives.

Ultimately, we can't always know why God allows us to experience physical illness or suffering. However, we can trust that He is working all things together for our good and that His sovereignty is not limited by our desires or circumstances. As the apostle Paul wrote, "For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed to us" (Romans 8:18). This verse reminds us that our suffering is not permanent and that God has a greater purpose in store for us. We can trust in God's goodness, sovereignty, and love, even when we don't understand why He allows us to experience physical illness or suffering.
