Finding Purpose Beyond Business

The idea that our sense of purpose is closely tied to our business or career is a common misconception. While having a fulfilling career can bring a sense of purpose, it is not the only source of meaning. In fact, the Bible teaches that our purpose is not necessarily tied to our profession or achievements. Psalm 20:4 says, "May he send you help from the sanctuary and support from Eden; may he grant you relief from your enemies, from every oppressor." This verse highlights the importance of seeking help and support from a higher power, rather than relying solely on our own abilities or accomplishments.

In fact, the Bible warns against putting our trust in earthly pursuits, such as wealth or status. Ecclesiastes 1:3 says, "What profit has man from all his labor in which he toils under the sun?" This verse suggests that even if we achieve great success in our business or career, it may not bring us the sense of purpose we are seeking. Instead, we must look to a higher purpose, one that is rooted in our relationship with God. As the Bible says, "For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them" (Ephesians 2:10). This verse emphasizes the importance of living a life that is pleasing to God, and seeking to fulfill the purposes He has planned for us.

Ultimately, our sense of purpose is not something that can be found in external sources, such as our business or career. Rather, it is something that must be discovered within ourselves, through a deepening relationship with God. As the Bible says, "We make our own purpose. We make our own joy." This verse emphasizes the importance of taking responsibility for our own lives, and seeking to live a life that is pleasing to God. By doing so, we can find a sense of purpose and meaning that goes beyond our business or career, and is rooted in our relationship with the Creator of the universe.
