Will my kids be okay without me?

As a parent, it's natural to worry about our children's well-being when we're away from them. However, it's essential to remember that our children are not a part of us, but rather individuals with their own lives and experiences. They need to develop healthy independence, individuate, and become their own people. This means that it's crucial for us to parent them towards independence, not dependency. By doing so, we're giving them the gift of knowing that their parents love each other and are committed to each other, which provides a strong foundation for their lives.

When we're not with our children, they may feel a sense of loneliness or abandonment, but this is a normal part of their development. They need to learn to navigate relationships and interactions without our constant presence. This is where their faith in God and their relationship with Jesus comes in. Jesus is the solid rock upon which both we and our children stand, and if they're following Him, they'll be okay without us. We can trust that God is working in their lives, even when we're not physically present.

It's also essential to remember that our children do not need us to be their friends or their emotional crutch. They need us to be their parents, guiding them and teaching them the values and principles that will help them navigate life. By staying in our lane and keeping our seat as parents, we're giving our children the freedom to be themselves and to grow into the people God has created them to be. We can trust that they'll be okay without us, and that God will continue to work in their lives, even when we're not physically present. As the Bible says, "For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” (Jeremiah 29:11) We can have confidence that God is working in our children's lives, even when we're not with them.
