The Bigger Question: Why Did God Allow Me to Suffer?

When faced with suffering, it's natural to question why God allowed it to happen. The question of why God allows suffering is one that has puzzled many, including Christians. In the case of breaking a leg, it may seem like a senseless and cruel act of fate. However, from a biblical perspective, suffering is not always a result of God's direct intervention, but rather a consequence of living in a fallen world. The Bible teaches that sin entered the world through Adam's disobedience (Romans 5:12), resulting in a broken relationship between God and humanity. This brokenness has led to suffering, pain, and evil in the world.

The Role of Human Responsibility

While God is sovereign over all creation, He also gives humans the freedom to make choices. In the case of breaking a leg, it's likely that human error or carelessness played a role. The individual may have been reckless or negligent, leading to the accident. This raises the question of why God allowed the individual to be careless. Finding Hope in Suffering

The Bible teaches that God is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit (Psalm 34:18). Through our suffering, we can experience God's presence and provision in ways we might not have otherwise. This doesn't mean that we should seek out suffering, but rather that we can find hope and comfort in the midst of it. By trusting in God's sovereignty and goodness, we can find peace and joy, even in the midst of pain and suffering. Ultimately, our suffering can be an opportunity for us to draw closer to God and experience His love and redemption in a deeper way.
