My friend, I can sense the weight of your crisis of faith. It's as if you've hit a wall, and the uncertainty is overwhelming. But let me tell you, faith is not about our circumstances, it's about our relationship with God. Whether you've lost your faith or are struggling to find it, I want to encourage you to take a step back and identify what's keeping you from making a decision. Is it a sin, a habit, or a lack of understanding? Whatever it is, know that you can establish a personal relationship with God right now.
You see, faith is not about being a fair-weather friend, trusting God only in the good times. It's about embracing His love and holiness, even in the midst of affliction. As St. Basil said, "ambidextrous" faith welcomes both pleasure and pain. It's about doing battle with the tendencies of passivity and depression, and instead, choosing to trust in God's goodness. Jesus said, "Out of his heart will flow rivers of living water" (John 7:38). That's the power of faith, my friend. It's not about what we can do, but what God can do through us.
So, I want to leave you with a challenge today. What's your crisis of faith? Is it financial struggles, relationship issues, or something else? Whatever it is, know that faith is not about winning or losing. It's about trusting in God's goodness, even when we don't understand. As I always say to my congregation, "Faith is not based on any victory you've ever won. Your faith is based on the Word of God." So, take a deep breath, and choose to trust in God's love and holiness, even in the midst of uncertainty.
