Your Question:

Can I still be a good parent when I'm not even sure if I'll make it through the night?

Answer:

As a parent, I've learned that it's okay to not have all the answers, and it's okay to not be perfect. In fact, every parent regrets things they've done or said, and that's just part of the journey. When Joshua was a teenager, I had to deal with my own fears and doubts, just like every parent does. There were times when I reacted out of fear instead of wisdom, and I wish I had known some things sooner.

But here's the thing: it's not about being perfect; it's about being present and available to our children. Even when I'm not sure if I'll make it through the night, I can still be a good parent. I can still pray for wisdom and guidance, and I can still ask for help when I need it. The Bible says that the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit, and I can ask for that love to overflow onto my children.

As a pastor, I've seen many parents struggle with the idea of not being perfect, and it's led to them giving up their responsibility to spiritually develop their children. But I believe that's where the beauty of prayer comes in. If we're hesitant or unsure, we can pray for guidance and wisdom, and we can ask the Holy Spirit to fill us with love for our children. That's what I do when I'm feeling uncertain, and it's helped me to be a more intentional and loving parent.
