Faith as a Source of Guidance in Times of War

As Christians, we often forget that we are in a spiritual war. Unlike most warfare, where at least we know that there is an enemy, we often fail to recognize the enemy in our spiritual lives. However, the Bible reminds us that we are in a war, and it is essential to understand the nature of this war. In Ephesians 6:12, we are told that our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. This spiritual war requires us to be vigilant and to use the spiritual provisions God has given us.

The Bible provides us with guidance on how to navigate this spiritual war. In 2 Corinthians 10:3-5, we are told that our weapons are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God. This means that we must use spiritual weapons, such as prayer, fasting, and the study of God's Word, to fight against the enemy. We are also reminded that God is our strong salvation, and His love is our shield and our buckler (Psalm 28:7). This means that we can trust in God's wisdom and guidance, even in the midst of spiritual warfare.

In times of war, it is essential to remember that we are not fighting against human enemies, but against spiritual forces of evil. We must use our spiritual provisions, such as prayer, fasting, and the study of God's Word, to fight against these enemies. We must also trust in God's wisdom and guidance, knowing that He is our strong salvation and that His love is our shield and our buckler. By doing so, we can navigate the spiritual war with courage and confidence, knowing that we are on the winning side. As the Bible says, "For God is not a God of disorder but of peace—as in all the congregations of the Lord’s people" (1 Corinthians 14:33). By following God's guidance, we can experience peace and victory in the midst of spiritual warfare.
