A Difficult Question of Faith

The question of why God took one's retirement savings can be a challenging and painful experience. It is natural to wonder if God is still in control or if He has abandoned us. However, the Bible teaches us that God is sovereign and that He is always working everything out for our good (Romans 8:28). This does not mean that we will always understand why things happen, but it means that we can trust that God is working everything out according to His plan.

A Sovereign God at Work

The Bible teaches us that God is a sovereign God who is always working everything out according to His plan. In the book of Job, Job asks God why he has been afflicted with so many troubles. God responds by saying that He is the one who gives and takes away, and that Job should not question His sovereignty (Job 1:21). Similarly, in the book of Psalm 115, the psalmist says that God is the one who gives life and death, and that we should trust in Him even when things seem uncertain. This means that we can trust that God is working everything out according to His plan, even when we don't understand why things are happening.

A God Who Provides

The Bible also teaches us that God is a God who provides for His people. In the book of Matthew, Jesus teaches us to seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and that He will provide for our needs (Matthew 6:33). This means that we can trust that God will provide for us, even when things seem uncertain. In fact, the Bible says that God will supply all our needs according to His riches in glory (Philippians 4:19). This means that we can trust that God will provide for us, even when we don't have enough. We just need to trust in Him and seek first His kingdom and His righteousness.
