The Impact of a Patient's Forgiveness on Relationships

The question of whether a patient's forgiveness can impact their relationships with others is a complex one. Research has shown that forgiveness has been linked to multiple positive mental and physical health outcomes (Toussaint et al., 2015). However, this forgiveness is not dependent on the actions of the offender, but rather on the individual's willingness to let go of negative emotions and move forward (Haidt, 2006).
