What happens when my partner leaves me?
When Your Partner Leaves You
When your partner leaves you, it can be a devastating experience that affects not only your emotional well-being but also your spiritual health. As Christians, we must remember that our trust is not in our partner, but in God. When we put our trust in our partner, we are setting ourselves up for disappointment and heartache. Human frailty is a reality that gets between God's words of assurance and our own thoughts and feelings. When we realize how feeble we are in facing difficulties, we must turn to God for comfort and strength.
In the Bible, we see that God is faithful and will never leave us. However, when our partner leaves us, it can be a difficult experience to navigate. Some people may feel the need to re-create the passionate romance with someone else, while others may descend into marital guerrilla warfare, blaming each other for personal dissatisfaction or lack of intimacy. However, as Christians, we must not let our circumstances dictate our faith. Instead, we must turn to God and seek His guidance and comfort. We must also remember that our partner's departure is not a reflection of our worth or value as a person. It is often a result of their own struggles and weaknesses.
In 1 Corinthians 7:10-16, the Bible provides guidance on what to do when a spouse leaves. If the spouse does leave, the other spouse has only two options: remain unmarried or be reconciled to their mate. If the mate decides not to return, the deserted spouse is free to marry again. However, if the mate leaves without a reason, the deserted spouse is not free to marry again until they have been divorced. As Christians, we must remember that our trust is in God, and we must not let our circumstances dictate our faith. We must turn to God for comfort and strength, and seek His guidance in navigating difficult situations. We must also remember that our worth and value come from God, not from our partner.
