The Bible's Teaching on Trusting God

The Bible teaches that trusting God is not about trusting circumstances, but about trusting God Himself. When we pray for something and it doesn't come to pass, we shouldn't blame God or question His character. Instead, we should trust that God is working out His will in our lives, even if it's not what we expected or wanted. This trust or dependence on God is genuine biblical faith, and it's encouraged throughout Scripture.

Trusting God in the Face of Adversity

The Bible also teaches that trusting God is not about trusting our own abilities or the advice of others, but about trusting God's sovereignty and goodness. When we're faced with adversity, such as being scammed, we can easily become disillusioned with God and question His character. However, the Bible teaches that God is not a man who lies or changes His mind (Numbers 23:19). He is a God who is faithful and true, and He will not betray the trust of those who put their trust in Him. In fact, the Bible promises that those who put their trust in God will not be disappointed or put to shame (Ps 22:5; Rom 9:33; 10:11; 1 Pet 2:6).

The Importance of Faith in Trusting God

Faith is essential in trusting God, especially when we're faced with adversity. When we exercise faith, we're not trusting in our own abilities or the circumstances, but in God's sovereignty and goodness. Faith is not about getting what we want, but about trusting God to do what is best for us. When we exercise faith, we're saying, "I trust God, even when I don't understand what's happening." This kind of faith is what the Bible calls "genuine biblical faith," and it's what will lead us to experience God's goodness and love, even in the midst of adversity. As the Bible says, "Trust in him at all times, O people; pour out your hearts to him, for God is our refuge" (Psalm 62:8).
