Biblical Answer

The concept of libertarian freedom, which emphasizes the ability to choose between action A or not-A in the same circumstances, is not the only understanding of freedom. The Bible teaches that our choices are influenced by our circumstances and our character, which is shaped by God's decision and activity. This means that our freedom is not absolute, but it is still real and meaningful. As the Bible says, "I will put my laws into their minds, and write them on their hearts" (Jeremiah 31:33). This suggests that our choices are not entirely random, but are influenced by our understanding of God's laws and our desire to obey Him.

In the face of chaos and uncertainty, it is tempting to opt for safety and security. However, the Bible teaches that the most secure thing we can do is to trust in God's sovereignty and goodness, even when we do not understand the circumstances. As the Bible says, "The Lord will fulfill his purpose for me; your steadfast love, O God, endures forever" (Psalm 138:8). This means that even when our plans are disrupted by chaos and uncertainty, we can trust that God is working everything out for our good. By choosing to trust in God's sovereignty, we can find freedom from fear and anxiety, and experience the peace that comes from knowing that God is in control.
